Dobble game review and giveaway

With the weather being so unpredictable it can be hard to find things to do with the little ones indoors, especially when you are trying not to allow too much screen time. Although much of what they can access on their tablets is educational they still need to experience interaction and turn taking, social skills and playing as a team, things that they cannot get from a computer screen. Also as family time is less structured with longer working hours and days it is important to spend time together doing things as a family whenever you can.
With my two still being quite young playing games is a fun way for us to pass a rainy afternoon so we were delighted to receive the brand new 'Dobble' game to review.

Dobble is a speedy observation game where players race to match the identical symbol between cards. Reliant on a sharp eye and quick reflexes, Dobble creates excitement for children and adults alike while keeping every player involved in the action. The game comes in a handy little tin, which makes it a perfect travel game. There are 5 different ways to play and Dobble is available in a range of different designs, including a Star Wars edition!

The RRP is £12.99 and is available from Argos or your local games Store

Dobble consists of 55 playing cards with 8 symbols per card so from the 50 available only one identical symbol is shared between each card, and it is up to you to find it first.

Object of the game -Be the the first player to spot the identical symbols and to shout out what the symbol is and keep, place or discards the cards (dependent on the mini game they are playing). The winner is the person that wins the most mini games.

Mini Games - can be played in a specific order or keep replaying the same game, whatever is the most fun!! mini  games include:

The towering Inferno - to be player who has gained the most cards at the end of the game
The Well - to be the fastest to get rid of all your cards
The Hot Potato - to be faster than you oponents to get rid of your card
Gotta Catch them all - get more cards faster than anyone else
The poisoned gift - to be the payer who has gained the fewest cards from the draw pile at the end of the game.

The eldest absolutely loved this game, it was simple and quick and took no setting up time at all, he was able to move around to play in different places not just sat at the table. He quickly got the object of finding the identical symbols and quickly adapted to the different rules of play for each mini game as they all revolved around finding the identical symbols, as the cards are kept in a small time he was able to take it to play at friends houses and will be a great little game to take on trips to visit family or holidays etc as takes up very little space in a bag.

I loved that there was no fiddly setting up of a board and pieces, it was instant, easy and portable, the kind of game i will gladly keep in my handbag for those moments when you need to find a distraction for 10 minutes.
